The Committee to Protect Egyptian Bloggers is looking forward to be a new clearinghouse for information on Egyptian bloggers who are punished, threatened or otherwise disadvantaged for what they post on their blogs. The CPEG is obviously inspired from the global Committee to Protect Bloggers which discontinued in the middle of May, 2006.

Inspired from CPB, CPEG has also different primary spheres of activity:
  • CPEG will serve as a clearinghouse for information on incarcerated members of our community, as well as those whose lives have been taken from them because of their enthusiasm for the free exchange of information that blogging allows.

  • CPEG will serve as a free voice gateway from inside Egypt toward all the world to unmask the perfidious Egyptian government behaviour toward free speech.

  • CPEG will form a pressure front against the Egyptian government to free imprisoned bloggers, and make restitution for tortured and murdered ones.

  • CPEG will bring to bear the formidable communicative power of the blogosphere to keep pressure on Egyptian government to stop and change their dirty methods.

  • CPEG will provide the required information to bloggers for save and anonymous blogging.
